THE EMC MISSIONS PROGRAM:
The EMC denomination is comprised of five "Global Conferences": USA (the founding conference), Mexico, Myanmar, Asia Pacific, and South Africa (affiliated in that order). (There was a sixth conference, CFAN, but the leaders chose to disaffiliate in August 2024.) Each Global Conference follows the EMC Discipline, adjusted as needed to allow for respective national laws and cultural differences. The Articles of Faith are not negotiable. Each Global Conference has its own General Superintendent and is self-governing, self-funding, and self-propagating. (Click this link to read. more on this missiological topic.) The Global Conferences are not dependent upon the USA Conference; rather, we are all interdependent, striving to work in harmony.
The Walkers lead in helping conduct this "orchestra" in a Kingdom spirit, alongside and answerable to the EMC International General Superintendent. To this end, the General Superintendent of each Global Conference is also an ex officio member of the EMC Board of World Missions, co-chaired by Bill and Lisa Walker.

WALKERS AS FULL-TIME EMC MISSIONARIES:
Bill and Lisa Walker are the EMC Missionaries who serve exclusively with EMC. They live near Athens, Georgia (Go DAWGS!!), and they serve the global EMC family. They work catalytically with the leaders of the Global Conferences, supporting network ministry, and sponsoring special projects as requested. The Walkers work with the EMG Global School of Ministry. This is not an institution but rather a vision for each Global Conference to fully develop its theological and ministry training program for pastors and laity. Perhaps the most important component of their ministry is the weekly distribution of a comprehensive list, including prayer requests from the General Superintendents of our Global Conferences and a weekly Zoom meeting to pray for these requests. To receive the list and Zoom link, email Bill Walker. (billwalkeremc @ gmail . com: there are no spaces in the address; this format prevents automatic address harvesting.)

HISTORY:
Revs. Bill and Lisa have served as pastors of Tilton EMC in Deep River, Iowa, and Grace EMC in San Diego, California. In August 2001, they went to Mexico as EMC missionaries under the Board of World Missions alongside Vernon and Ruth Perkins, John and Paula Gentry, and Meda Jane Leach. The Walkers lived in Torreon, Coahuila, serving in several capacities, including as youth leaders in the local EMC and as teachers at the Life and Truth Bible Institute. Bill also served as sector coordinator (similar to an assistant superintendent) and finally as director of the Life and Truth Bible Institute in what was to be their final year, 2008. They returned abruptly and unexpectedly to the US for security reasons but have remained intricately involved with EMC's multicultural and mission work. They directed the EMC Department of Multicultural Ministries before this work was included under the canopy of the Board of World Missions. They simultaneously served as youth pastors for the Athens Chinese Christian Church for just over six years, stepping away from that ministry in April 2024 to be full-time with EMC Missions.
